Year 2005

October 15, 2005: The Wine Spectator rates our DOCG Tenuta Rocca VIGNA SAN PIETRO BAROLO 2001 88 points, with the following comment by James Suckling: Floral and plummy with hints of stems. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a tangy, citric finish. This is a new vineyard for me. Good debut. Best after 2007.

September 15, 2005: VINUM, by Christian Eder, rates the 200 best Barolo, 2001 vintage. Among those, both Barolo of Tenuta Rocca, with the following scores: 2001 DOCG Vigna San Pietro Barolo - 16 points - 2001 DOCG Tenuta Rocca Barolo - 15.5 points.

September 1, 2005: Knack Magazine, by Erwig Van Hove. Mr. Van Hove comments his tastings made at the Barbera Meeting of June in Alba, as follows: During the Barbera Meeting we have tasted 182 different wines. As always, we have listed only the wines that are indoubtedly good and recommended. The reputations grow more solid and the good ones are back year after year. Among his choice, our 2004 Tenuta Rocca Barbera and our 2003 Vigna Roca Neira Barbera.

August 15, 2005: The Wine Advocate rates our:
TENUTA ROCCA 2000 BAROLO: 91 points
The 2002 vintage did not give Tenuta Rocca the grapes it needed for its Barbera-Nebbiolo (and Cabernet Sauvignon: Ornati) blend, but the 2000 Barolo of the house is a real success with its powerful, well-spiced nose of cherries, chocolate, and tar, structured flavors of real volume and weight, and a solid finish of ripe red fruit and licorice. The tannins need a bit of time, and the wine can best be drunk between 2006 and 2018.

July 28, 2005 The Internationa Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC)of London awards Tenuta Rocca with the following two medals:

SILVER Best in Class to our 2001 DOCG Tenuta Rocca Vigna San Pietro Barolo, described as follows: Garnet with orange rim. Minerally note introduces the nose with cherries, raspberries and touches of spice with slight leather-like note. Well rounded in the mouth with very smooth flow. Showing some maturing mellowness. Hints of liquorice and slight leathery edge. Grainy tannins in fine finish.

BRONZE to our 2003 DOC Tenuta Rocca Barbera d'Alba DOC

www.lavinium.com (http://www.lavinium.com/cgilav/visuazlav.cgi?IDaz=610) publishes the results of the tastings at the "Alba Wine Exhibition 2005" concerning Barolo.
Our Barolo Tenuta Rocca 2001 and Barolo Vigna San Pietro 2001 deserve very good reviews as follows:
2001 DOCG Tenuta Rocca Barolo: @@@@/89. Ruby red with garnet reflections, quite bright. Very interesting nose, with notes of rose, ripe cherry and blackberry, toasted wood and vanilla. Very good start, followed by a tannin that is still perceivable, but with the potential for a wonderful evolution and an extraordinary quality/price ratio.
2001 DOCG Vigna San Pietro Barolo: @@@/85. Ruby red with orange reflections. Toasted, reminding you of lacquer, ripen fruit. Fruity and modern taste, not too complex yet. Dry finish, needs time to expand.

July 2, 2005: Fyens Stiftstidende, El Godt Glas, by Jorgen Aldrich.
Our 2004 Barbera d'Alba Tenuta Rocca appears among the "starring Barbera".

June 27, 2005.
