2004
Very good, similar to 2006.
2005
Winter was mild, with little rain, and the spring was fresh, with little rain again. During the summer, in particular from mid July to mid August, the temperatures were higher than average and the weather was very dry. Rains occurred during the last ten days of August, and the excellence of the white grapes as well as of the Barbera grapes was compromised. In September and October the alternation of some rainy days and hot sunny days allowed a perfect maturation of the Nebbiolo grapes for the production of an excellent Barolo.
2006
Very favourable season, with medium rains, not too hot, but constantly sunny in the summer. In September it rained only for three days consecutively so that a very healthy harvest followed once the grapes had
dried out. Harvest was anticipated compared to the average. Intense colour, optimal acidity.
2007
In Piedmont, production doesn’t differ much from that of 2006. Winter and Spring were very dry and the temperatures were higher than average. The rains of the month of June have come in help. Sprouting was lower than the average, with productions inferior to the average in terms of quantity, but was early and fast, as well as blossom, who found a favourable time in the second week of may and had a regular evolution. Weather conditions of June and the beginning of July, with hot temperatures during the day and fresh nights have partly reduced the substantial anticipation of the maturation of
the grapes.
2008
Very different season compared to 2007: from the beginning of the year the temperatures were pretty low, still the sprouting was anticipated compared to the average. May and June have influenced the progress
substantially, due to the cold and rainy weather, sometimes accompanied by hail and strong winds. This has delayed the productive trend of approximately 10-20 days depending on the varietal of the grapes. However,
after the second half of August, the weather conditions were back to normal and the ideal conditions were created for a maturation without problems.
Sugar content in the grapes was good, even if not exceptional, best for the grapes that were harvested later on in the second half of September and in October (red wines).
2009
Excellent vintage for all the grape typologies
in Piedmont. Lots of snow in the winter season
followed by a dry and hot spring and summer.
